Thoughtful, Flexible, and Designed Around You
The tours you see on this site are starting points — ideas, not fixed scripts. Every experience I offer is ultimately custom and bespoke, shaped around your interests, pace, and curiosity.
My role is to design and host wine and gastronomy journeys that feel personal, grounded, and unhurried — whether you’re visiting Portugal for the first time or returning with deeper questions.
Here’s how it all comes together:

Tours as Suggestions, Not Templates
Each tour listed on the site represents a possible direction, not a rigid itinerary. Once we connect, we shape the experience together — producers, food stops, rhythm of the day — based on your group’s interests.
Tours are designed for private groups of 2–6 guests. Larger groups can absolutely be accommodated with advance notice, allowing me to arrange appropriate transportation and ensure the experience remains comfortable and well-paced.
No two days are exactly the same — and that’s intentional.
How the Day Unfolds
Most tours follow a natural rhythm rather than a strict schedule. We begin with a relaxed departure, then move between vineyards, cellars, landscapes, and tables at a pace that allows for conversation and discovery.
Expect a mix of:
Engaging visits with natural winemakers
Portugal Unfiltered brings you face-to-face with Portugal’s growing natural wine movement. Instead of visiting the same commercial estates producing competent but predictable wines, we spend time with thoughtful, independent winemakers pushing boundaries and rediscovering old vineyards and native grapes. These wines reveal the extraordinary diversity of a small country by the sea — and each visit offers the rare chance to taste, talk, and learn directly from the people shaping Portugal’s most exciting wines today.
Regional cuisine, rooted in place
From simple lunches in rustic tabernas to relaxed picnics in beautiful natural settings, food is an essential part of understanding Portugal. The country speaks quietly about its products and recipes, but its regional cooking is deeply expressive and tied to land and tradition. While wine is often the starting point, every tour includes a thoughtfully chosen gastronomic experience — designed around your preferences and meant to deepen your connection to the Portuguese table.
Time to walk, taste, and ask questions
These tours are built around engagement, not schedules. We leave space for conversation — with winemakers, food producers, and the landscapes beyond Portugal’s famous cities. While Lisbon and Porto draw attention, the heart of the country lives in its villages, countryside, and coastline. Moving at an unhurried pace allows you to absorb what you’re seeing, follow your curiosity, and come away with a deeper, more grounded understanding of Portugal and its people.
Most importantly, flexibility to linger when something feels special. This is not a checklist tour. It’s a guided day that responds to the moment.

Transportation & Sustainability
All tours are conducted in a low-emissions hybrid vehicle. Natural wine begins in the vineyard, and respect for land and landscape matters — not as a slogan, but as a practice. Choosing appropriate transport is one small way that philosophy carries through the experience.
Advance Notice
To ensure quality and proper coordination with producers:
-
Lisbon, Setúbal, and Tejo tours require at least 24 hours’ advance notice
-
Alentejo tours require at least 48 hours’ advance notice and confirmation of arranged accommodations.
If you’re working with a tighter timeline, reach out — I’ll always let you know honestly what’s possible.
Beyond Lisbon: Other Wine Regions
In addition to the regions highlighted on the site, I offer private tours in all major Portuguese wine regions, including Douro, Dão, Bairrada, and Vinho Verde.
These experiences are not day tours from Lisbon, due to substantial drive times. Instead, they are designed around:
-
Where you’ll already be staying
-
Your available time
-
Your interests in wine style, landscape, or food
If you know you’ll be in one of these regions — or are curious about building time there — just speak with me. We’ll design something that makes sense geographically and experientially.

Ready to Book?
These tours are built around conversation, trust, and shared curiosity. They’re for travelers who value authenticity over spectacle, and who understand that wine, food, and place reveal themselves best when given time.
If that sounds like how you like to travel, we’ll get along very well.
